I hope it works out for you. Honestly on the ones we have been given (2) I spent less that $50 to get …   more ›

Kane County Flu Activity Still High

County health officials advise it’s not too late to get the vaccine, which remains available in St. Charles.

With flu season at its peak in Illinois and the illness hitting levels not seen in in at least six years, the Kane County Health Department is advising that is not too late to get your flu shot. Flu vaccine is available at many pharmacies, grocery stores and health providers, the Kane County Health Department said in a release, adding that anyone 6 months and older should get a flu shot to protect themselves and their family against influenza. The flu season typically runs through May, with activity peaking in January and into February. This season, however, the spike began early — in December, according to health officials and Google.org’s Flu Trends, which boasts that it uses aggregated Google search data to estimate flu activity …

This ones ugly. I usually avoid most sicknesses but over the weekend came down with this. I haven't been that sick since I was a child. I don't know if the vaccine contains what I had... But I highly recommend it if so. In the mean time... If I speak with you in the next week I apologize if it sounds like I'm speaking through a sponge :)   more ›

New Sex Offender, Child Luring Laws In Effect For 2013

A bill sponsored in 2012 by state Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) will prohibit sex offenders from participating in holiday events involving children as of Jan. 1.

An Illinois law effective Jan. 1 officially prohibits convicted sex offenders from participating in holiday events—from dressing up as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to handing out candy on Halloween.  Offenders who break this law (SB 3579/PA 97-0699) could be subject to fines or revocation of their parole or probation, and could face additional jail time, according to a press release from state Sen. Kirk Dillard's office. “I do not believe child sex offenders should be given the opportunity to dress up and participate in a holiday event that caters directly to young children,” Dillard said in a statement. He said he sponsored the law in response to real incidents that occurred in Illinois where child sex offenders used holiday events as…

Here's What 2013 Will Bring!

These are the news stories that I believe will grab Geneva's attention in the new year.

Now that we’ve taken a good look back, like the two-faced Roman god for whom our very first month is named, it’s time to focus on the future. As a result of that endeavor, listed in order of importance, here are the news stories I believe will grab Genevans’ attention in the onrushing 2013. 1. The mayoral race.
