Check Out These Great, Geeky Gifts from Geneva

Geneva Patch Holiday Gift Series: Behold! I bring you some of the great geeky gifts of all time, from a store located in Geneva.

It's coming down to the wire, and you're looking for the perfect gift for the Bill Nye Science Guy or, I don't know, the Minnie Pearl Science Girl in your life. Well, look no further, my friend, and be sure to thank me later, because we have found what must be pretty close to GEEK GIFT NIRVANA, and it's located right here in Geneva, IL. OK, if you want to get technical about it (and you will, after you've seen this array of gifts), American Science & Surplus isn't located exactly inside the city borders, but it's close enough that you could kiss it, and you might want to, as I've said, after you see these strange trinkets. Before we get to the fun, here's what you need to know to get there. Now, the fun stuff, with text and photos courtesy…

A Very Geneva Christmas: Who's Open on Christmas and Christmas Eve?

A lot of folks have to work on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day—which is good news for a lot of folks might want a meal or a beverage.

Geneva Patch has you covered with this handy guide to Christmas and Christmas Eve. Below you'll find a list of Geneva bars and restaurants that have special events this holiday season, along with details and hours.  Not every restaurant is open Christmas day, and the few that are open on Christmas Eve often have abbreviated hours. Unless otherwise noted, the restaurants listed as having Christmas Eve hours …

Paying It Forward in Geneva

Doing the "right thing" produces a domino effect.

I am so proud to live in Geneva and will sing its praises whenever I am asked (not to be confused when I sing the Geneva Fight Song).  The following story is an awesome example of why I am so honored to live here.  A wise woman, and fellow Geneva cheerleader, encouraged me to share it, and I hope it brings a sense of hometown pride to each of you who call Geneva home. On the Friday night of the Christmas Walk, the Chamber of Commerce received a phone call from a lady who had lost a rather expensive and sentimental piece of jewelry. She said it could be anywhere in Geneva as she had gone on the House Tour and also shopped downtown. Fifteen minutes late,r we were able to call her and tell her someone had turned it in to the Congregational …

Announcing the Week 1 Winners of Patch's Unofficial Pet Picture Contest

Sound the trumpets! Our team of crack judges, consisting of me and Tricia, chose the first week's winners of the First Annual Unofficial Geneva Patch Holiday Pet Photo Contest.
