Mill Creek Elementary School serves more than 380 students from kindergarten through 5th grade. The school, which was…More constructed in 1996, is located on the far West Side of Geneva School District boundaries, just off Keslinger Road in the Mill Creek subdivision. The building itself is a modern facility that was constructed in 1996 and features a parent drop-off and pick-up spot in the front. On the 2009 state report card for schools, 95 percent of Mill Creek students met or exceeded state testing standards, showing the dedication of the staff, the students and the parents alike.
"We're the only school in town named after its neighborhood," says Principal Andy Barrett. "Like most of Geneva, there are low mobility rates and low staff turnover here, so the kids get to know each other and get to know their teachers."
Heartland Elementary is Geneva's third-newest school, built in 2002. Its model is almost a mirror image of Mill Creek…More Elementary, with a spacious library as its focal point.
"What I've seen in the last year, and what drew me to stay here, is community," Principal Adam Law said. "The faculty and staff really are like a family, and it's important for the students to see that bond and know that it goes on here on a daily basis."
Mission statement: Heartland Elementary School is a child-centered environment that involves students, families, school staff and the community in a team effort to prepare all children to become life-long learners and contributing members of an ever changing and diverse world.
