The 37th annual Fox Valley Folk Music & Storytelling Festival returns to Island Park Labor Day weekend, but fans can get a sneak peek with a brand new preview music event Saturday, Aug. 31.
Several Festival headliners are scheduled to perform at the preview event on three live stages in downtown Geneva, including:
- February Sky, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Geneva Bank and Trust, 502 W. State St.;
- Locust Honey, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the historic Kane County Courthouse lawn, 100 S. Third St.;
- Regional folk performers, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Joshel Plaza, South Third Street and Crescent Place.

The preview event is free and made possible through sponsorships from Geneva Bank and Trust, the Kane County Chronicle, Fox Valley Folklore Society and the City of Geneva’s Outdoor Music Grant.

The Fox Valley Folk Music & Storytelling Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Sept. 1 and 2 along the banks of the beautiful Fox River at Island Park, 2 E. State St. More than 30 folk musicians and storytellers will perform over eight stages during theFestival.
The fun continues into the evening Sept. 1 with the Old-Time Community Barn Dance from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and then Ghost Stories from7:30 to 10 p.m. in the Main Stage tent.
Festival admission is $15 for adults, $10 for teens and seniors and free for children age 12 and under. People can get a $5 discount for purchasing tickets for both days. Patrons can also purchase a family admission for $40 per day. The Festival is sponsored by the Fox Valley Folklore Society, the Geneva Park District and the City of Geneva.
