Advocate Dreyer Fox Valley Marathon Comes Through Geneva Sunday Morning

The Race Weekend Expo runs Friday and Saturday, while CASA Kane County's annual Fox Valley KIDS Marathon steps off Saturday afternoon.

With The Weather Channel predicting sunny skies and temperatures rising to the mid-60s, the conditions on Sunday should be perfect for the fourth annual Advocate Dreyer Fox Valley Marathon.

It steps off on 1st Street in downtown St. Charles at 7 a.m. and finishes at 1st and Illinois, with runners covering courses that traverse paths along the Fox River through Geneva, from St. Charles to Aurora.

The races already are sold out. Expect runners to begin arriving in town as early as Friday — there is a 2013 Race Weekend Expo and Packet Pickup for runners that runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Baker Community Center, 101 S. 2nd St., and continues from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The early arrival will give runners an opportunity to scope out the course in advance of Sunday’s runs.

In conjunction with the adult event, CASA Kane County hosts its annual Fox Valley KIDS’ Marathon, but the kids event will be held Saturday.

Participating youngsters have been keeping logs of their running progress since signing up for the race, and Saturday’s run, which is set to start at 3 p.m., is for the final 1.2 miles of their marathon.

Their races will start and finish at Illinois and 1st streets.
