Week Ahead: What's Closed for MLK Day

Government offices and schools are closed.

What's closed for Martin Luther King Day in Geneva?

We're glad you asked.

(1) Schools

Geneva School District 304

Many private schools are closed, as well.

(2) City Hall

Geneva City Hall and other City offices will be closed in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday, Jan. 20. Both the Police and Fire departments will remain open. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

(3) Post Office and Mail Delivery
Post Offices will observe the federal holiday honoring the anniversary of the birth of noted civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Post Offices
will be closed and there will be no mail delivery or retail service.

However, customers are encouraged to still drop their mail in blue street collection boxes, so they can be processed starting early morning on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

“We want to advise anyone with stamped or metered mail ready for delivery to drop this mail into a blue collection box instead of waiting to do so the following day,” said Central Illinois District Manager Peter R. Allen. “This also applies to our business customers, many who will still be open during the holiday. We want to get a quick start on processing their mail.”

(4) Geneva Township Senior Center

(5) Kane County

The website doesn't say so directly, but government offices appear to be closed for the holiday.

What's Open?
