Week Ahead: Christmas Walk, House Walk and Steeple Walk!

This is the big weekend of Christmas in Geneva! Plus a chance to give feedback to School District 304 and run in the Snowflake Shuffle!

The big event this week in Geneva is the Christmas Walk, which starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, and extends through the weekend, plus its two seasonal sister events: the House Tour on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7, and the Steeple Walk on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Other events this week include a chance to give feedback to the Geneva School Board and run in the Snowflake Shuffle.

MONDAY, DEC. 2

Share Your Opinions With Geneva School Board


Join the Geneva School District Board of Education on Monday, Dec. 2, to share your thoughts on kindergarten, communication, Common Core, and anything else that’s on your mind.  The public forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Williamsburg Elementary School, 1812 Williamsburg Avenue, with approximately 20 minutes devoted to each of the following topics: full-day kindergarten, School District communication, Common Core, and anything else you like.


WEDNESDAY, DEC. 4

NIU STEM Cafe Talk on the Higgs Boson


So just what is a Higgs boson, anyway? Find out at part of the STEM Café series. The free event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Claddagh Irish Pub, in the Geneva Commons.

Western Avenue School Book Fair at Barnes & Noble



Support Western Avenue School by shopping at Barnes & Noble in Geneva. In an effort to raise funds for their PTO, Western Avenue School is working together with Barnes & Noble Booksellers by hosting a book fair at the Geneva Commons store.

Geneva Christmas Walk & House Tour


Celebrate the beauty of the season with the Annual Christmas Walk and House Tour. Many shops and restaurants are offering specials and events throughout the weekend.

Swedish Christmas and St. Lucia Festival



The Swedish American Children's Choir presents the 15th annual Swedish Christmas and St. Lucia Festival on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at 3 p.m. The festival will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St. in Batavia and feature music by the choir directed by Marguerite Karl as well as Margaret Lekander and Christopher Karl, violinists, Ernie Sandquist, Swedish Accordionist  and  Shirley Fox, pianist. This year's St. Lucia, Queen of Light, is Natalie Cooper  of Geneva.


SUNDAY, DEC. 8

History and Music at Steeple Walk Dec. 8



The Steeple Walk, held the Sunday after Geneva's Christmas Walk, is a rare opportunity to sample several holiday musical performances in the setting of some of Geneva’s historic churches. Click here for the timing and schedule.
