Sam Hill Organizes Volunteers for West Side Cemetery Maintenance

Come to Geneva City Hall on Tuesday to learn how to help maintain Geneva's West Side Cemetery.

The city of Geneva is asking for volunteers to help maintain the West Side Cemetery this spring and summer. Volunteers would trim grass and weeds around monuments and grave markers.

As a result of budget cuts, the City's Cemetery Fund has been reduced.  A budget amount for part-time/seasonal employees has been added, but it will not be enough to property maintain both the West Side and Oak Hill Cemeteries.

Interested residents are encouraged to attend a meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, in City Hall Council Chambers. Please enter at 109 James St. entrance. Discussion will include preferable volunteer day/time assignments.

Volunteers will need to provide a weed-cutting device, a hand spade, garden gloves and safety goggles. For additional information, contact Alderman Sam Hill at 630-208-9151 oraldhill@geneva.il.us.
