Here Are 4 Ways to Help Fox Valley Literacy Volunteers—And Have Fun at the Same Time

A carnival, a pig roast, a marathon and more.

Many people ask what they can do for Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley besides tutoring. Here are some options:

A Labor Day Weekend Carnival is planned for Sept. 1-5 to benefit Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley and Fox Valley Troop Support. The carnival will be located at the corner of Route 38 and Randall Road in St. Charles. The hours of operation will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday. The event is sponsored by Windy City Amusements and Kane County Chronicle. Come out and have some fun!

Not a golfer? You can still do dinner only at the LVFV Golf Outing, Pig Roast and Silent Auction at  Thursday, Sept. 8. The pig roast will be outside in the Pavilion. Some of the items on silent auction include an overnight stay at  in Geneva, foursomes of golf at various courses and gift certificates galore. Register at www.golfinvite.com/literacyvolunteersfoxvalley or call 630-584-4428. Pig Roast! Yum!

This year, LVFV is a Fox Valley Marathon Charity Partner. Forty runners donated $100 to LVFV to receive discounted race registration. Fox Valley Marathon is looking for volunteers to help with the race on Sunday, Sept. 18. If you can lend them a hand, visit http://foxvalleymarathon.com/volunteers/index.htm.

Lastly, LVFV needs to stuff 900 goodie bags for the Taste of Home Cooking School, which is coming to the Arcada on Nov. 10. LVFV will be the non-profit sponsor. If you can help, e-mail Peg@lvfv.org for details.
