Tour Viking Ship from 1893 World's Columbian Expo
Friends of the Viking Ship to host an open house May 19 at Good Templar Park.
Did you know that the Viking Ship, from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, is housed at Good Templar Park in Geneva? Have you always wanted to see Illinois’ largest remaining artifact from the Columbian Exposition?
On Saturday, May 19, the public will have an opportunity to view the Viking Ship in Good Templar Park, 528 East Side Drive. Friends of the Viking Ship (FOVS) will host a “Viking Visitor’s Day” from 1 to 4 p.m., describing the ship’s amazing voyage from Bergen, Norway, to the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition and its subsequent adventures.
You'll see the wonderful stabilization work that has been done and walk up the ramp to view the inside of the ship. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for visitors 13-19, and $1 for children 5-12. FOVS will also be accepting donations to benefit the urgent rivet repair program.
