Diorama Deadline, National Middle Child Day and More—5 Things You Should Know for Friday, Aug. 12

Also, families in need of help with school supplies and clothing can attend an event held by area churches aiming to ease the financial burden of back to school.

There are some great live acts in the Geneva area today (Friday, Aug. 12), from stand-up comedy to a coffee house singer/songwriter. Keep reading to find out when and where to attend.

Here are five things going on:

1. Today is the deadline for submissions to the Four. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: youth, teen/adult, and family. Judging starts on Aug. 20.

2. from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the in Geneva. Grimm is an award-winning songwriter, and actor on stage and screen. He left Hollywood in the 1990s to focus his life on his family and his art.

Grimm is returning to his Midwestern roots to sing about the rural settings he grew up in. His performance is said to be full of warm reminders of a simpler time in American history.

3.  is working with St. John Neumann and Bethlehem Churches in St. Charles for their annual school supply and clothing giveaway from 4 to 8 p.m.

4. See stand-up comic, writer and sports activist  at 8 p.m. at Zanies in the Pheasant Run Resort. Bozeman has appeared on the new CBS Star Search, Comedy Central, HBO and Last Comic Standing.

Tickets are $24 with a two drink or food purchase minimum.

5. National Middle Child Day celebrates the family member who always seems to be left out of the attention mix. The theory goes that the oldest kid gets all the attention, the youngest is always babied and the middle child doesn't get anything. This might not hold true for your family but, middle children across the nation can celebrate today as something of their own.
