History Center Offers 2 Chances to Attend the 8th Annual Creche Luncheon

Make your reservations today for the events on Thursday, Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 10.

Plans are under way for the s 8th Annual Crèche Luncheon.

The Crèche Luncheon is an annual fundraiser for the Geneva History Center and continues a Geneva tradition first established at the more than 80 years ago. In 1930, the Little Traveler’s Kate Raftery purchased an antique Neapolitan nativity set, which she displayed in a 17th century French Provincial corner bed. The crèche became a focal point for a series of holiday luncheons showcasing the aesthetic and historic gem.

It now resides at the Geneva History Center, where the holiday tradition continues today.

This year, the Crèche Luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 10. Both take place at 12:45 p.m. in the Community Room of the Geneva History Center, 113 South Third St.

Proceeds from the sale of tickets will be used to conserve figures displayed in the crèche nativity scene. As in past years, the tables will be decorated by members of the community using their finest china, crystal, silverware, and centerpieces.    A distinguished group of Geneva notables will once again serve as waitstaff for the event. The luncheon will be prepared by the culinary classes of Geneva High School.

Reservations are $55 and can be purchased at the Geneva History Center or online at www.genevahistorycenter.org.

Thursday’s luncheon has nearly sold out, so call for ticket availability.
