Use These Detours Wednesday for Batavia Homecoming Parade 2013

There's a new route for Batavia's Homecoming this year.

Heads up if you're traveling in Batavia on Wednesday, or if you plan to attend the 2013 Homecoming parade.

The parade route is a little different this year, due to Wilson Street construction work, and the suggested detours are a little different, as well.

Parade units will begin staging at the Batavia High School lot off West Wilson Street at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25. The parade will step off at 5:30 p.m. going east on West Wilson Street to Lincoln Street, turn south on Lincoln Street to Main Street, turn west on Main Street and end at the Batavia High School parking lot at Main Street and Millview Drive.

The event will impact traffic at all intersections to the parade route. West Wilson Street First Street and Main Street will be closed at South Batavia Avenue to westbound traffic during the event. Any traffic coming east from Randall Road on Wilson Street will be detoured to Western Avenue, and traffic coming east from Randall Road on Main Street will be detoured to Millview Drive.

If you need to get to Randall Road from the downtown area, use McKee Street, Batavia police officials suggest. If you're coming from the south on Route 31, police say you should detour using Morton Street, then right on Millview, then to Main Street to get to Randall Road.

The parade is supposed to last about an hour.
