Start your Holiday Tradition at the Geneva History Center's Museum Store and Giving Tree!

Start your holiday season with a visit to the Geneva History Center starting Friday, Nov. 25.

The elves have been busy preparing for the holiday season and we are ready to present to the community starting this Friday, Nov. 25.

Our has been spruced up and reopened with special Geneva gifts.  Postcards of vintage Geneva images, notecards by well-known photographer Brian DeWolf, aluminum water bottles, reusable shopping bags, ornaments of popular Geneva buildings made by and Geneva sweatshirts and T-shirts are just some of the items now available for purchase. Cash, check and credit cards are all accepted.

The Geneva Giving Tree display is in our temporary gallery and provides a place for the community to view 17 beautiful Christmas trees decorated by local non-profit organizations. The community can vote for their favorite tree through Dec. 27 with every dollar donated = one vote. Voting can take place here at the History Center or on our website www.genevahistorycenter.org.

The tree with the most votes will earn 100 percent of the donations to the winning organization. The remaining trees will split their donations with the Geneva History Center. A reception to announce the winning tree will take place at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, here at GHC. The display can be viewed through Dec. 30.

The can be viewed in our Community Room. The Crèche or nativity includes more than 40 hand-crafted figures including the Holy Family, angels, shepherds, three magi and villagers. The figures are displayed within an intricately carved 17th Century French provincial corner bed.  The Créche has been a holiday tradition in Geneva since the 1930s when it was displayed at by original owner, Kate Raftery.

The History Center also offers a Créche Luncheon as a fundraiser to restore the créche on Saturday, Dec. 10, (we are sold out for the Thursday, Dec. 8, luncheon).  Visit our website to reserve a seat today!

Raffle tickets are available to win a Behind the Scenes Tour of GHC and Brunch for eight on an agreed date and time. You and seven friends can get a personally guided tour of our exhibitions, archives and collections of more than 20,000 two- and three-dimnsional articifacts and 10,000 photographs, documents and books.  Afterward, enjoy an elegant brunch served in our community room.

Tickets are available at the History Center for $5 each or six for $20. The winner will be drawn at the Giving Tree reception on Dec. 28.

We will be open for the , Friday, Dec. 2 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Sundays, noon to 4 p.m. through Dec. 18 as well as our regular hours of Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
