Photos of Mary Bencini Needed

E-mail photos of Mary Bencini by Monday, April 16 to marybenciniphotos@gmail.com to be used in a video honoring her memory.

It has been a rough week both at the Geneva History Center and personally grieving the loss of my good friend and mentor, Mary Hogan Bencini. Words cannot describe the bond we had both in planning events and confiding in eachother. I am honored to have known and worked with her.

Through this loss I have been fortunate to talk with some of Mary's siblings and touched that they have asked a group of us from Geneva to assist with planning her services. Her sister, Kathy, said that they wanted to make sure her love is expressed from her "Geneva family," as well. It was especially freaky yet somewhat comforting that Kathy sounded just like Mary on the phone—same voice and similar humor. Can't wait to meet her in person!

David Phyfer of Stage Fright Productions has offered to produce a video to honor the different facets of Mary's involvement in Geneva—teacher, GAF, Geneva History Center, SPAC, neighbor and friend. We invite the community to submit photos of Mary to be considered for use in the video. Please submit photographs to marybenciniphotos@gmail.com by the end of the day Monday, April 16.

This is a great chance to look through old photos over the weekend and take time to remember how Mary touched all of us. I am honored to plan one last event that involves Mary Hogan Bencini. :)
