Men Who Cook Are Sexy, Right?

Sign up to be a "Celebrity Chef" for the 60 Men Who Cook fundraiser

I am proud to serve on the 60 Men Who Cook organizing committee to help raise funds for four local organizations - the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Geneva Rotary Club and two groups I am directly affiliated with—the Lions Club of Geneva and the Geneva History Center. The fourth-annual event will be held from 5:30-10 p.m., Friday, May 11, at the Kane County Fairgrounds.

We are in need of a few more "Celebrity Chefs"—please note the word celebrity can be applied to anyone. This is a great opportunity to not only raise funds for these four organizations but it can be a chance to get your name out to the more than 1,000 people who attend that evening. Some chefs have had some fun and name their dish something clever or they decorate their table to promote their business. In the end we want everyone to have an enjoyable experience - even the 60 chefs. You can view last year's event on Youtube.

Here are the details for the chefs: Sixty local “celebrity” chefs will cook a minimum of 250 bite sized portions of one of the following categories: Appetizer, Side Dish, Main Dish or Dessert. Attendees will sample your dishes and vote with their dollars for the best in each category—voting will also take place before the event online.  Chefs provide all ingredients, prepare the food in an approved kitchen, provide warming dishes, coolers, and serving utensils.

We provide the eating utensils, bowls, plates and napkins as well as a skirted table.  Chefs stand behind a table to serve the attendees. There is also a category for “Best Display” so we encourage you to decorate your area and dress in any costume that might fit what you are serving.

If you are male and want to be a "Celebrity Chef" please e-mail me at exec_dir@genevahistorycenter.org or call 630-232-4951.
