State Street Dance Studio Offers New Summer-Intensive Program

Looking for something to do this summer? State Street Dance Studio has some hire-powered instructors lined up for a "Summer Intensive" program.

, located at 9. N. Fourth St. in Geneva, is unveiling a new Summer Intensive for its summer program from June 25 to Aug. 3.

State Street has turned its Ballet Training Program into a Summer Intensive for students to center not only on Ballet but other focused dance techniques and styles. Our summer intensive is designed for the serious student who wishes to study both ballet and other focused dance styles and techniques. The six-week program will offer five levels that will help the student gain strength in various techniques and improve their skills all while providing a positive, focused, professional atmosphere in every class.

Students will have the opportunity to work alongside many professional instructors. Depending on the level, students will have the opportunity to take class in Ballet technique, Pointe, Variations, Partnering, Repertoire, Modern, Jazz, Character and other dance enrichment classes.

State Street Dance’s Ballet Training Program will be formed into this more extensive program to allow dancers to take other forms of dance. The Ballet Training Program is geared for the serious dancer interested in taking the next step in their ballet training.

The program that takes place throughout the school year is designed for students interested in pursuing a professional ballet or dance career.  The BTP requires a highly intensive ballet class schedule and a great amount of dedication from the student.  Those who have been in the BTP throughout the 2011-2012 school year will be in the group level as recommended by the Artistic Director and Ballet Director of State Street for the Summer Intensive.

The Summer Intensive’s faculty lineup will include Ariel Cisneros (former Joffrey Ballet of Chicago dancer), Jim Corti (Artistic Director of the Paramount Theater in Aurora, IL), Elise Corey (former New York City Ballet Principle dancer), Carl Corey (former Joffrey Ballet dancer), Jennifer Grapes (former Milwaukee Ballet dancer) and other exceptional instructors from around the Chicago area.

Other benefits so taking part in the Summer Intensive are a parent observation day on Thursday, Aug. 2, and an in-studio performance will take place from each Summer Intensive level at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3.

The 2012 Summer Intensive at State Street Dance is open to those students who are ages 7 and above, and placement will be based on individual skill levels, not necessarily on the length of training or age. Those wishing to take part in our 2012 Summer Intensive that have not been in our Ballet Training Program, will be required to come in and take a class to be evaluated on their placement level. Students will then be notified within the next week of their placement.  Registration for the Summer Intensive is currently open. The Summer Intensive is a 6 week program that begins on Monday, June 25 and goes through Aug. 3.
