Pedestrian Bridge in Batavia to Close June 28-29

Plenty of blockades for cyclists and walkers along the Fox River this summer.

If you're traveling on foot or by bicycle this summer, you've got a lot to deal with, including the Island Park bridge construction in Geneva.

Now, the pedestrian bridge in downtown Batavia connecting River Street to Island Avenue will be closed for the last two days of this work week.

The pedestrian bridge in Batavia will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, and Friday, June 29. The bridge will then reopen for normal use late Friday afternoon, June 29.

Batavia Project Streetscape includes upgrading of all underground utilities, and street improvements including trash receptacles, benches and drinking fountains. On River Street the improvements also include creating a curbless street allowing for a shared pedestrian and vehicular space.
