Last Chance: Deadlines to Participate in Swedish Days Events Near

There are several ways to be part of this hometown festival.

Deadlines are fast approaching for participation in a number of popular Swedish Days events, including the Geneva's Got Talent competition, the Swedish Days parade and the renowned Granquist Music Competition.

 

May 8 — Geneva’s Got Talent applications must be received in the Geneva Chamber of Commerce office by this date. Only the first 75 applications received will be invited to audition on May 18 for a chance to perform during Swedish Days and win the $1,000 first-place cash prize. You do not need to live in Geneva to apply.

May 15 — Your organization and/or business should be represented in the 64th Swedish Days Festival, presented by Cadence Health parade on June 24. There is no application fee. Once your application has been reviewed, you will be issued a line-up number. This parade draws tens of thousands from all over the state and beyond. 

May 20 (mail in entries); May 24 (online entries) — The Granquist Music Competition, a tradition started by founder Herb Granquist, continues on as the Granquist family are the new coordinators for this year. This event promotes music performance, competition and education for serious students of music.  Students are grouped by instrument, age and years of instruction. A first, second and third place is awarded in each class. Solos, duets and ensembles are all encouraged to register. There are two levels of competition—Olympic and Concert. The 43rd Annual Music Competition will be on Saturday, June 22.
