Concert for a Cure Fast Approaching
The Paul Ruby Foundation's Concert for a Cure will be held at Tanna Farms on Aug. 25.
Paul Ruby never would have imagined that a desire to find a cure for Parkinson’s would have resulted in one of the biggest music festivals in the Fox Valley. in its sixth year, has become a local favorite, attracting guests from all over the area and some of the best musicians locally, and this year, as well as nationally.
This year, the foundation welcomes Miles Nielsen and The Rusted Heart Band. Nielsen, an Illinois native, is the son of Cheap Trick founder Rick Nielsen. Miles has been around music his entire life and is active on the national music scene.
With two stages, the concert will provide hours of music entertainment. The other acts for the concert are: Andrea Dawn, Chanson Du Chat, Dave Ramont, Dave Nelson & Friends, Fargo, Funktional Family, Gallery, HOSS, Jeremy Keen, Kevin Trudo + Meathawk, Noah Gabriel and West End Blues.
In addition to music, the concert features a live and silent auction, with items ranging from getaway trips, to jewelry, to tickets to sporting events, as well as a raffle, with chances to win an iPad, a trip to a Hyatt with airfare for two included, and a set of diamond earrings featuring rubies.

As always, the kids area will be present, and Dream Girl Miss Illinois, Madeline Cole, will be helping with the silent auction as well as taking photographs and signing pictures with kids. Food will be served and vendors will be present from , , and
All proceeds from the concert go to . This year, the foundation hopes to mark its 500,000th dollar given toward Parkinson’s research. The funds given to research at Northwestern have supported a project now receiving funding from the National Institutes of Health.

Opportunities to get involved with the foundation are still available. The foundation is still looking for new or like-new items for the live and silent auction, and volunteers are still needed.
Tickets are currently on sale online and at selected vendors, including Fagan’s, the Geneva History Center, Mill Creek Market, Mill Creek Golf Club, Tanna Farms, The Herrington Inn, and Pockets restaurants located in Aurora. Tickets are $10 for under 21 and $25 for over 21.
