5 Fun Things To Do This Weekend

With temperatures expected to be about 20 degrees cooler, this weekend will be the time to get out and enjoy some of the things on the agenda.

Plenty to do this weekend around town to stay cool:

 

1. "Assassins," a musical by Stephen Sondheim
Where/When: 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday through July 21 at the Geneva Underground Playhouse, 524 W. State St.
Why Go: Sit and relax in an air-conditioned theatre enjoying this musican based on the idea of a murderous carnival game of men and women who attemped — some successful, some not – to assasinate United States Presidents. The music reflects the different eras that are depicted by this five-time Tony Award-winning musical.

2. Meditation on Mother Earth
Where/When: 
9 a.m. Saturday at Crystal Life Technology, 121 S. Third St.
Why Go: The Earth is a sovereign entity. Connect with her as well as with our Earth's human leadership, to strengthen the energy of right action.
Free.

3.  Afternoon Tea
Where/When:
2 p.m. Saturday at the Little Traveler, 404 S. Third St. 
Why Go: Everyone is invited to spend the day with the folks at Little Traveler and enjoy an afternoon tea in the legendary tea room. Then explore the many rooms filled with culinary items, wine, furniture, clothing, and many other interesting items. 
Cost is $12.95 per person.

4. RiverPark Concerts
Where/When:
6 p.m. at the RiverPark amphitheater at Peyton Street and North River Lane at the river. 
Why Go: Free Sunday night entertainment starting tonight. The jazz sextet, Swings n' Arrow featuring trumpeter John Lash will perform followed by the Good Music Ensemble which is led by Chicagoan Rajiv Halim. On Sunday, July 15 listen to Dennis O'Brien and his popular band Avalanche starting at 6:30 p.m. 
Free.   

5. Geneva French Market
Where/When:
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through November 4 at the Geneva Metra Station lot, 328 Crescent Pl.
