4 Ways to Enjoy the Perfect Geneva Memorial Day

Honor our veterans and have a wonderful time in downtown Geneva.

The perfect Memorial Day in Geneva might start with the American Legion tribute at the bridge, followed by the pancake breakfast at the United Methodist Church, then the parade. At 3 p.m., you can honor fallen heroes at the Kane County Government Centers Veterans Memorial.

  • Where/ When: 7 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the
  • Why Go: Because it is THE thing to do on Memorial Day in Geneva. Perfect preamble to the Memorial Day parade. One of the great Geneva traditions. It's the 59th annual.
  • Cost: Adults $6, children $3.

2. EARLY MORNING MEMORIAL DAY SALUTE

  • Where/When: 6 a.m. Monday beginning at the State Street Bridge
  • Why Go: The Fox River Geneva Post 75 American Legion holds a ceremony
  • Pricing: Free.

3. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. Monday at Crescent Place and South Third Street, Geneva
  • Why Go: Everyone is there. Marchers throw candy. Life is good. The  route begins near the train depot, proceeds north on Third Street, ending with ceremonies with music in the westside cemetery at Stevens and Third Streets.
  • Pricing: Free.

4. MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY AT KANE COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER

  • Where/When: 3 p.m. Monday at the County Veterans Memorial located at the Kane County Government Center, 719 South Batavia Ave. in Geneva, Illinois on the front grounds of Building A.
  • Why Go: This ceremony will honor Fallen Heroes Christopher Alexander Patterson of North Aurora and Alex Martinez of Elgin as they will be enshrined on the Wall of Honor, to recognize and thank their families who bear the burden of their ultimate sacrifice.
  • Pricing: Free.
