Who Will Win Friday's Batavia-Geneva 100th-Anniversary Showdown?

This is your chance to weigh in on one of the biggest and best rivalry matches in Illinois high school football history.

Both teams are 1-1.

Both are hungry for a win.

This is a rivalry that started 100 years ago — in 1913. Could it possibly be more interesting?

The Batavia Bulldogs and the Geneva Vikings face off Friday night, Sept. 13, 2013, at Burgess Field. In the first week, Geneva upset Oswego 29-27 and Batavia upset state powerhouse Glenbard North 29-26 — two huge, nail-biting wins. Last week, reality struck when Batavia lost its first regular-season game in the past three years, 31-26 against Richards; Geneva lost 40-27 to Wheaton North.

According to "Batavia History" web page from the Batavia Public Library, Geneva has won 51 times, Batavia 38 times and there have been five ties. On seven occasions, the teams did not play.

In high school football, there are great games, and there are GREAT GAMES.

This one deserves the all-caps.
