Volleyball Team Goes 3-2 at Geneva Invite, Places 2nd Overall

Vikings volleyball team captures second at Geneva Invitational.

The Geneva Vikings captured 2nd place on Saturday by defeating IMSA and Morris, taking first in pool play after a tie breaker with Burlington Central was resolved based on overall points.

After beating DeKalb in the first round of bracket play, Geneva faced Joliet Catholic in the championship match. It was a tough match playing for 1st place against Joliet Catholic who tookover the match with their tough swings, winning 25-15 in game one and 25-12 in game two.

Throughout the day, a lot of players got the chance to see some playing time. Hannah Buck dominated in each match of the day with her tough swings; ending the day with a total of 26 kills and contributing 38 digs for the Vikings. Kelly Dalheim totaled 69 digs, helping the offense run effectively as Hannah Lanasa added 21 kills for the entire day. Geneva plays against Elgin at home Tuesday, Sept. 4.
