Tess Ehrhardt Named Horizon League Athlete of the Year
Geneva standout becomes UIC's first-ever cross country champion.
Geneva cross country standout Tess Erhardt of has been named the Horizon League's Women's Athlete of the Year, and became UIC's first-ever cross country champion.
According to a report on the UIC Flames website, Ehrhardt finished first among 74 runners and "guided the women’s team in the 5K with a time of 17:47.63, beating her nearest opponent by nearly 15 seconds."
Still just a junior, Ehrhardt was named to the All-League first team.
UIC quotes cross country head coach Jim Knoedel:
“Tess is the first conference champ in cross country we’ve ever had, and she won because despite her frail exterior she’s a fierce tiger inside.”
The Flames had four runners four runners finish in the top 20 of the Nov. 2 Women's Horizon League Cross Country Championship including, Rebecca Zaiter (18:47.56), Lauren Lindholm (19:16.85), Jaime Johnson (19:26.46) and Emma Preston (19:30.72).
