SOPHS: Saints Take First Blood Over Vikings Under Friday Night Lights

Final score: St. Charles East 26, Geneva 7

St. Charles East's sophomore football team took a 14-0 halftime lead, and that was enough to hold off the Vikings in an Upstate Eight battle Friday at East.

The Vikings made a charge to start the second half, holding East to three-and-out, then scoring on a Dan Santacaterina run with 4:38 showing. The run was set up by a nice hookup from Santacaterina to Pace Temple.

But it was all Saints from there. The Vikings fumbled and East recovered on the 7-yard line, then punched it in for a 20-7 lead early in the fourth. They padded the lead with a 3-yard run by Mitch Munroe with 3:24 left in the game.
