Record-Setting Geneva Baseball Team Seeded No. 1 in Lake Park Regional
Vikings are 25-8, the most wins in the GHS history, and are on an 8-1 roll going into regional play.
A lot of folks knew at the beginning of the season that 2012 could be a special year for Geneva High School baseball.
With an 8-1 run to finish the regular season, the Vikings find themselves in elite company with a 25-7 overall record and the No. 1 seed in the Class 4A Lake Park Regional. The Vikings play the winner of today's Bartlett-Streamwood contest in a matchup at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Park.
The 25 wins are the most in any season in Geneva High School history. NIU-bound quarterback Matt Williams is getting his Geneva High School Athletic Hall of Fame resume in order by setting a baseball-team record with 49 RBI so far this year, topping the previous record of 44 set by catcher Chris Sepanski, according to Paul Johnson's excellent story in The Beacon-News.
