Girls Basketball Team Beats Elgin 83-22

The word parity doesn't seem to be there in girls basketball. It seems as if Geneva is challenged by great teams or winning by landslides.

Geneva girls basketball came to play on  Monday night after having a week off due to the weather last week. The lady Vikings defeated the Elgin Maroons 83-22.

The Vikings (18-6) did a great job distributing the ball, had a lot of fast-break scores off turnovers and led the Maroons 44-10 going into halftime.

"We passed the ball very well in the first half," said assistant coach Eric Duffet. "The girls did a nice job looking at each other down the court."

Geneva's Kat Yelle put up 23 points for Geneva. Ashley Santos scored 16, and senior Dori Rogers put up a career-high 12 points.

"Dori did a really nice job off the bench tonight," said Duffett.
