FINAL: Saints Top Vikings 34-27
The St. Charles East Saints take the win in an offensive battle Friday night in St. Charles.
A trade of turnovers early in the fourth quarter turned a 28-27 St. Charles lead into a touchdown and a 34-27 Saints win Friday at St. Charles East.
Bobby Hess opened the scoring for Geneva with a 93-yard kickoff return to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead after 3 seconds of play.
But St. Charles East came back two minutes later with an interception return by Mitch Munroe for a touchdown. Hess scored on a 40-yard run to make it 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

St. Charles quarterback Jimmy Mitchell hit Erik Anderson on a 58-yard touchdown pass to start the second quarter. But freshman quarterback Nick Derr connected with Kyle Brown for a 77-yard score, and Geneva led 21-14 at the half.
Munroe matched Hess' game-opening heroics by taking the second-half kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, tying the game at 21.

St. Charles special teams and turnovers took over from there.
The Saints blocked a Geneva punt, and Mike Eyre recovered in the end zone for a 28-21 St. Charles East lead. The Vikings countered with a 43-yard pass from Derr to Brown, but the Vikings missed the extra point, giving the Saints a 28-27 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Geneva intercepted a pass and had the ball inside the Viking 20-yard line but fumbled the exchange, allowing Anderson to punch in the go-ahead touchdown from the 5-yard line.
The Vikings marched to the Saints' 31-yard line before a holding call and an unsportsmanlike conduct call ended the drive.
The Saints improve tp 4-2 overall, 3-0 in the Upstate Eight River Division. The Vikings fall to 1-5, 1-2 in the UEC, and will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2003.
