Geneva Volleyball Team Loses Tough, 3-Set Match to DeKalb

The Vikings came out ready to win with some tough swings by Hannah Buck and Elle Weinstein. Buck led the team in kills with eight and Weinstein followed with five.

In game one, DeKalb's offense mixed up their shots, putting the ball where Geneva was not, and won 25-23.

It was in game two that Geneva’s defense kept the momentum in their favor, as Ashleigh Shain kept the Vikings' court alive. Shain led the team with 16 digs, and Geneva took the second game 25-20.

DeKalb came out with some strong hits, putting them in the lead right in the beginning of game three. The Vikings fought their way back in the game and led 11-9. Melissa Hanika came out in the clutch, putting the Vikings in the lead at a critical point in the game.

The Vikings did what they could to keep the tempo on their side, but couldn’t stop DeKalb’s offense. DeKalb won the final game 25-21.

The Vikings will play South Elgin next week on Thursday (9/15) (Current Record 7-3, Conference 1-0).
