Geneva Volleyball Team Beats Batavia in 3 Tough Games

The football team fell short against the undefeated Bulldogs, but the volleyball team takes an important, hard-fought victory in Tuesday's match.

The Vikings won a tough match against the Batavia Bulldogs and move to 3-1 in the Upstate Eight.

In game one, Geneva came out swinging and serving tough, and won 25-21. In game two, the Vikings struggled as Batavia caught the momentum late, and Geneva couldn’t catch up. Batavia took the second game 25-19.

In game three, Batavia kept fighting, but the Vikings responded by picking up their hits and executing offensively. Geneva’s defense helped Stephanie Earl run an efficient offense, totalling 22 assists for the match.

Melissa Hankia played a great game as she came out swinging aggressively against the Bulldogs. Hanika ended the match with a killer hit and led the team with 13 kills, and the Vikings won game three 25-23.

The Vikings play at Kaneland Wednesday, Oct. 5.
