Geneva's Lauren Wicinski Wins All-America Honors for MSU

Now playing at Michigan State, former NIU and Geneva High School great Lauren Wicinski continues a string of All-America honors.

Geneva's very own Lauren Wicinski was named to the AVCA's Division I All-America volleyball team Wednesday—the first time for Michigan State University and her third nod overall.

Wicinski won those honors for Northern Illinois University her freshman and sophomore seasons. She was MAC Player of the Year for the Huskies in 2011. She was honorable mention in 2010 and third team in 2011.

She transfered to MSU this year and picked up where she left off, leading the Spartans in points, kills and service aces per set this season, according to a report on msuspartans.com. She is a second-team All-American this season and becomes the 10th All-American at Michigan State.

Wicinski scored her 10th double-double of the season with 14 kills and 16 digs in a Dec. 7 regional semifinal loss to Michigan. MSU finished the season 25-10.

She is, of course, the daughter of Geneva High School football Coach Rob Wicinski and Gina (Graf) Wicinski, a Huskie standout on the volleyball court from 1983 to 1986, who is among the NIU volleyball team's all-time statistical leaders.
