GAME DAY: Vikings Face Big Challenge Against Elgin Larkin at Home

Hard to say the words "must win," because every game is a must-win. But 0-3 is territory the Vikings haven't seen in many a year.

This one isn't likely to make any "game of the week" headlines on the sports pages of Chicago-area newspapers, but tonight's Geneva-Larkin contest is huge for the Vikings.

After an 0-3 start, Geneva is looking to notch its first win on the and hold onto the hope of running the table and making the playoffs.

That's a big challenge, considering that Geneva quarterback Dan Santacaterina is out with a broken collarbone, and a handful of other key players are banged up. Larkin is 2-1 overall, 1-0 in the Upstate Eight River Division and is riding high after a 40-12 win over Elgin last week.

T.J. Miller, a junior, is expected to step into the QB spot for the Vikings, but a number of players are holding up their hands to say they can play quarterbac, if asked, according to excellent pregame reports in the Daily Herald and Kane County Chronicle.

Last year, Geneva beat last season with a high-flying aerial attack. The year before that, they won the matchup —all the more incentive for Larkin. Both teams are fired up, and it should be a dandy of a game, as Keith Jackson might say.
