GAME DAY: For One Team, Lemont's Football Field Will Be 'Deathly Hallows'

Can the Vikings beat the jinx of the non-conference away-game? Can they survive Lemont's Avada Kedavra? We'll find out later today.

 In the spirit of the  campaign to raise funds to , put your traveling cloak and your game face on for today's 6 p.m. second-round playoff matchup at Lemont.

The Indians are undefeated and have beaten some good teams, including Tinley Park. They are probitive favorites, coming into the game 10-0 to Geneva's 8-2. owning a better SportsMetrix.com rating (.488 to Geneva's .467) and having homefield advantage.

Also on the bad news side, Geneva's two loses have been away games to playoff calibre teams.

On the good news side, the Vikings have won their last eight games. The two teams have played and beaten both Batavia and Oak Forest. Lemont beat Oak Forest 35-21, while Geneva beat the Bengals 69-28. Lemont held on to beat Batavia 23-14 in the first round of the playoffs last week; the Vikings beat the Bulldogs 40-21 on Oct. 1.

The weather looks good: sunny and high of 51, winds at 5 to 10 mph.

Lemont High School is located at 800 Porter St. Google Maps has it as a 31.6-mile, 51-minute drive from State and Third streets in Geneva.
