Geneva, IL – June 22nd, 2012 – Janji releases its unique running apparel at Geneva Running Outfitters on Friday, June 22nd. Janji is a socially-conscious company created by members of Washington University in St. Louis’ cross country team, teammates of Justin Rodriguez, a 2010 graduate from Geneva High School. The designs of the shorts are based on the flags of Haiti and Kenya, and the proceeds fund nutritional medicines, a season's worth of water, and other sustainable solutions for each country. Justin Rodriguez, former cross country runner for the Geneva Vikings, is one of Janji’s original employees.

The idea for Janji began on the way to the 2010 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships when Rodriguez’s teammates, Dave Spandorfer and Michael Burnstein, were motivated by the possibility of improving the food and water crisis through the power of running. They chose the name, Janji, which is the Malaysian word for ‘promise,’ because their organization is built on the promise to ‘run for another.’ From the beginning Janji has had considerable start-up success by winning grants and business competitions, which led to nationwide recognition and the attention of many inspired running store owners.
Now Janji is releasing its products this upcoming summer in select running stores before its August national release. The general public and runners of all types are invited to be the first to view and purchase the new apparel at Geneva Running Outfitters and support Janj’s mission.
