Baseball Team Out-Slugs Lake Park, Ranked 15th By Daily Herald

GHS baseball teams at both levels having great seasons so far.

If anyone noticed a power surge in Geneva on Tuesday night, it was probably due to Geneva varsity baseball’s 16-14 slugfest over Larkin.

The teams had a combined 33 hits and six home runs as they duked it out. The Vikings had five of the longballs, as Chris Hipchen, Matt Williams, Brad Bernhard and Mitch Endriukaitis all went yard. Kyle Bender picked up the win on the mound. Geneva is 10-3 on the season and ranked No. 15 in the latest Top 20 poll by the Daily Herald.

The sophomore baseball team suffered a rare loss on Monday as Lake Park edged by them 2-1. Viking starter Tony Landi was wild early but settled down and surrendered just two hits through five innings. The score stayed at 1-1 through seven, but reliever Connor Feeney gave up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth for the loss.
