AT THE HALF: Vikings Run Into Perfect Storm, Tied 14-14 at South Elgin
South Elgin plays very well on offense and matches Geneva score for score in the first half.
In the first half, it is a perfect Storm.
South Elgin wasn't immacutlate, but the offense played well, moving the ball and controlling the second-quarter clock, matching the Vikings score for score, and going into the locker room tied 14-14.
On a windy afternoon, the Vikings took the opening kickoff and executed a 13-play drive. Twelve of those plays were runs, capped by a 2-yard Matt Williams plunge.

But the Storm came right back on the strength of a 44-yard run by Adolfo Pacheco, an 11-yard scamper by quarterback Zachery Gross and an 8-yard touchdown run by Pacheco.
A 52-yard run from scrimmage by Dan Berendt led off Geneva's next drive, and the key play of the series was a scrambling 9-yard pass on fourth down from Williams to (I think) Tyler Hickey. Parker Woodworth took it in from the 2, and Geneva led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

But Geneva's defense had a hard time stopping the Storm offense, led by Pacheco and Gross, mostly on the ground.
The Storm used most of the second-quarter clock, and when Geneva exited with 50 seconds left in the half, South Elgin took over at its own 35. Geneva held, and the teams finish the first two quarters in a perfect stalemate.
