After Spectacular Sectional Win, Volleyball Team Bows Out to Powerhouse New Trier
The future looks incredibly bright for a team with an amazing 2013 finish.
Geneva's volleyball team made history this year with a sectional championship that include dramatic wins over St. Charles North and top-seeded Glenbard West in the Geneva Sectional.
And the future looks incredibly bright for a team that includes five underclassmen.
The Vikings' miracle season ended Saturday with a 25-19, 25-21 loss to New Trier, which will return to the Class 4A state championship game for the second straight season. It's hard to avoid the conclusion that Geneva might be in the company of the Trevians a year or two from now.

Geneva finishes with a record of 29-10, and its first-ever sectional win. Three seniors — Taylor Marmitt, Courtney Caruso and Hailee Hilmer — have much to be proud of in leading this team so far into the post season.
On Saturday, the Trevians were just too tough. New Trier has four Division I-bound players, all seniors, including 6-foot-3 Haley Fauntleroy and 6-foot-5 Sarah Shafiq.
