What Happened to the 'Footloose' Lip Dub Video on YouTube?

The GHS "Footloose" lip dub has left the building—or at least the YouTube environment. No official word just yet on why it was taken down.

The is loose, apparently—as in, gone missing, kaput, "Elvis has left the building."

Geneva High School Principal Tom Rogers said this morning that he simply didn't know at this time why it was gone from YouTube. A reader said the YouTube video had more than 10,000 visits before it was taken down on Saturday or Sunday.

If you click on the Geneva Patch link to the , you get a YouTube error message that says, "This message contains content from SME and EMI, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds."

A caller who asked to remain anonymous said this morning that he/she had talked to one of the students who made the lib dub video, and the student said he believed the YouTube takedown might have had something to do with the Kane County Chronicle posting the video on its website.

I talked to Kane County Chronicle News Editor Al Lagattolla—who is just a terrific guy, by the way—this morning, and Al said the Chronicle has no comment.

So, we'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully, we'll get some clarrification later from the high school or the Chronicle or YouTube folks about why the video is down.

And hopefully, see the video back on YouTube soon.
