Wednesday Is Walk to School Day in Geneva

Mayor Kevin Burns will be at Heartland, maybe with Ozzie the Cougar. Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen will be at Fabyan Elementary.

Several Geneva grade schools are participating in the national Walk to School Day Wednesday, Oct. 9. 

Heartland Elementary School


The PTO is sponsoring Walk to School Day. Teachers are signed up to meet groups of students at various locations in the neighborhood and will walk with students to school. Mayor Kevin Burns will be joining one of those groups as a local celebrity, and Ozzie from the Cougars might make an appearance, as well.

Harrison Street Elementary School


Students will be walking in groups with parents from all directions.

Fabyan Elementary School


Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen will be walking to school and signing the Fabyan Walk to School Day banner with all students. Representatives from the Kane County Health Department will be assisting students crossing Fabyan Parkway.

Students arrive at school starting at 7:45 a.m. School starts at 8 a.m.

Western Avenue School

WAS Students and families are encouraged to walk or bike to school on Wednesday Oct. 9, 2013. The WAS PTO will be providing all students with a healthy snack that day and students will be able to sign their names to a poster showing their support for Walk or Bike to School Day.
