PTO Back to School Night for GHS Parents Is Sept. 7

This is one of the "don't miss" events for parents of high school students in Geneva.

Geneva Community High School's annual PTO-sponsored GHS Back-to-School Night will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the .

Back-to-School Night is a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet your child’s teachers, receive course syllabi and learn about the specific curriculum of each class.

(Some advice: Parents should use Home Access Center of the GHS website to print out a copy of your child’s schedule of classes.)

The program will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the cafeteria, with representatives from the PTO, various booster clubs, as well as the available to answer your questions.

If you joined the PTO, student directories will be available for pick-up in the cafeteria. You will report to your student’s first-period class at 7 p.m. Parents will then move through their child’s daily schedule for 10-minute periods. Because of the time constraints, specific needs or questions should be addressed to the instructor at a later date with a personal phone call, e-mail or scheduled conference.

  • 6:45-7 pm — Pick-up materials in the cafeteria/commons
  • 7:05-7:15 pm — 1st Period
  • 7:20-7:30 pm — 2nd Period
  • 7:30-7:45 pm — Special Edition GTV program (Remain in second period classroom.)
  • 7:50-8 pm — 3rd Period
  • 8:05-8:15 pm — 4-5, 4-6, 5-6 Periods*
  • 8:20-8:30 pm — 6-7, 6-8, 7-8 Periods*
  • 8:35-8:45 pm — 9th Period
  • 8:50-9 pm — 10th Period


* Do not report to lunch during these periods
** If your child has a study hall, please visit the cafeteria during that period

Throughout the evening, you may visit our school store, The Viking Vendor, located in the northwest corner of the GHS Commons. Spirit Wear will be sold in the cafeteria and refreshments will be served compliments of the PTO.

While in the cafeteria, please visit the tables of GHS extension programs. The Counseling & Advising Office staff, including social workers and psychologists, will be available in the Viking Commons.

"We look forward to seeing you on the evening of Sept. 7," the District 304 e-blast said. "Parking will be a challenge. Parents may park in the McKinley Street lot, the former Coultrap Elementary School lot or on any side street, unless otherwise posted."
