Petmezas Follows Barrett as Principal for Mill Creek Elementary School

Andy Barrett moves into an interim District 304 administrative position and George Petmezas is named interim principal.

Geneva School District 304 has named George Petmezas, the assistant principal at Geneva Middle School North, as the interim principal of Mill Creek Elementary School.

For the time being—and most likely full time at the beginning of the 2011-12 school year—Petmezas replaces Andy Barrett, who accepted the position of director of curriculum and instruction for School District 304.

The moves are part of a small administrative "musical chairs" for the School District. The chain reaction started Monday night, when the School Board accepted the resignation of Director of Curriculum & Instruction Kathy Pease, who has been hired by another school district. Barrett will take Pease' place, serving as the interim director of curriculum and instruction, effective at the end of July.

Petmezas was approved to serve as the interim principal at Mill Creek Elementary School, effective at the end of July, and a search will be conducted to fill the GMS North assistant principal position, according to the District 304 newsletter.

The School Board also approved the hiring of Jerel Waide to fill the position of student services coordinator, and she will join the district’s administrative team this week.
