Schools

Hey, Parents! It's ISATs Time!

The ISATs are coming! The ISATs are coming! Oh, brother, they're here. After we feed them and send the off to school to do battle, the only question left is whether the whole exercise is a "Race to Nowhere."

Illinois Standards Achievement Tests start today (Monday, Feb. 28) and end Friday, March 11.

That means students enrolled in third through eighth grade will be completing the tests at various times during the next two weeks.

The ISAT is designed to assess the extent to which students are meeting the Illinois Learning Standards. As mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002, the collection of this assessment information is required and used in the determination of district and school Adequate Yearly Progress, School District 304 said in a reminder to parents.

"Given the importance of optimal student performance on these assessments, please encourage your child to concentrate and put forth his or her best effort," the School District e-mail said. "It is helpful if the students are well rested, on time and have eaten a good breakfast each day.

"Please contact your child’s teacher directly should you have specific schedule or assessment questions."
