GMS South Spanish Class Supports Fox Valley Troops

Christina Lindahl's Spanish classes made the holidays special for U.S. soldiers overseas.

students in Christina Lindahl’s Spanish classes recently completed a community service project that will send Happy Holiday notes and care packages to military men and women stationed overseas.

Students recently studied Three Kings Day, a Latin American and Spanish holiday during which children leave their shoes out on the eve of Jan. 5 in hopes that the Reyes Magos (Three Kings) will leave them gifts in their shoes while they sleep.

Geneva students filled cut out paper “shoes” with donated items, such as personal care items, snacks, playing cards and batteries, along with notes thanking soldiers for their service and wishing them Happy Holidays and a safe return home.
