Girls Soccer Team Tallies Huge Wins Over Wheaton North, Conant
Senior recognition night is Wednesday as the Vikings soccer team takes on Streamwood in the last home game of the season. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. at Burgess Field.
In its first game of the esteemed Naperville Invitational, the Geneva girls' soccer team defeated Wheaton North in overtime Friday night.
Down one goal with 10 minutes left, Amanda Lulek found the back of the net for the equalizer. Then, only 5 minutes into overtime, Michaela Loebel blasted home the game-winner off an assist from Catherine Allon, leading the Vikings to a 2-1 victory.
Despite playing nearly 90 minutes of soccer the night before, Geneva beat well-rested Conant Saturday by a score of 1-0 off a beautiful goal by Amanda Lulek which was assisted by Catherine Allon.
Conant was the favored team coming off a third-place state finish last year and being ranked in the top five in Illinois for the entire spring season. Geneva handed Conant only its second loss of the season.

Maggie Bodine and Michaela Loebel put together a solid performance, shutting down Conant's all-state player. Geneva's defense, consisting of Caitrin Griffin, Tory Herbst, Annie Waldoch and Molly Stanfa, earned its 10th shutout of the season. Geneva is currently 10-2-4 and is ninth in the Chicago Tribune girls soccer rankings.
The Geneva girls soccer team honors its 2012 seniors at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Burgess Field, where the Vikings square off against conference rival Streamwood in the last home game of the season. This year's graduating class is made up of Catherine Allon, Caitrin Griffin, Kristin Rodriguez, Kaily Rote and Marissa Schroyer.
