GHS Celebrates Sophomore Students of the Month

GHS names its Students of the Month for February. An award is earned by a student who stands apart, succeeds despite circumstances, or contributes in some special way to the school. Here are the sophomore nominees; juniors next!

Geneva High School celebrates education and student achievement by nominating students of the month. The following are some of Geneva's achievers, from the sophomore class. Juniors next, then seniors!

Sydney Parado, Grade 10
Nominated by Roxanne Curtis

It is my pleasure to nominate Sydney Parado as my Choral Music Student of the Month. Sydney is hard-working, energetic and enthusiastic in my Concert Choir ensemble. She remains consistently on task and continually strives to improve her musicianship and singing ability. Additionally, Sydney serves as an outstanding role model in class, singing with intelligence and passion. Sydney's maturity, positive attitude, and vigorous work ethic are refreshing, and it is truly an honor to have her as my choral music student!

Lindsay Ferguson, Grade 10
Nominated by Ms. Wise

Lindsay is an extraordinary student. She is quiet in class, but her projects and written work packs a punch. Each and every assignment is given 100 percent, and she is very thorough, using instructions to complete all aspects of an assignment. But the thing that makes Lindsey special is her creativity and willingness to go beyond what is expected. She interviewed her grandmother for an oral history assignment and with this project set the standard for all future students.

Alexander Ferris, Grade 10
Nominated by Ms. Emma

Alex Ferris is my student of the month for his wonderful work ethic and hard work in the activities office and textbook room each day. I met Alex last semester when he was a monitor in the Athletic Office. Each day after his duties were complete in that office, he would check in with me and ask if there was anything he could do to help. He jumped right in to shelving, bar coding and running books back and forth from three storage locations. This semester, I am fortunate to have Alex as a daily assistant. He shows up with a smile and offers suggestions on how he can help make my job easier. I look forward to seeing Alex each day and want to honor him as my student of the month to show my appreciation.
