Geneva Students Win Several Awards in National French Week Video Contest

Geneva High School students won several awards in this year’s American Association of Teachers of French National French Week student video contests. 

The challenge was to create a 30-second to 2-minute long video related to the National French Week theme, “French – Language of the 21st Century.” 

Geneva High School students took first, second and third places in the Chicago/Northern Illinois Chapter competition and first, second and fourth places the national competition.

Several more students also received honorable mentions at both the national and chapter levels. 

  • Students receiving first place prizes at the national competition include the following students in teacher Martha Behlow's French IV class:  Cameron Graber, Shelby Porter,Sierra Baginski, Jakob Eldredge, Hannah Brachat, Caroline Neal, Alexa Orlanda, Sam Kichka, Alan Celaya, KyleBertaux, Kathleen Clemens, Stephanie Condon, Amy Haboush, and Lauren Garrison. Watch the video here.
  • The student receiving second place at the national competition include the following student in teacher Martha Behlow's  French II class: Haley Hudetz. Watch the video here. 
  • Students receiving fourth place at the national competition include the following students in Behlow's  French II class: Olivia Smith, Olivia Zieba, Serena Wilson, Alison Kummerer, Anna Gain, and Vera Kotelnikova. Watch the video here.  
  • First place in the Chicago/Northern Illinois Chapter competition went to Pam Cabeen’s French III students EmmaMcSpadden and Katja Gonzalez.
  • Second place in the Chicago/Northern Illinois Chapter competition were Pam Cabeen’s French III students MaddieNowak and Karli Vass. Watch the video here.
  • Third place in the Chicago/Northern Illinois Chapter competition were Martha Behlow’s French II students MaddieHagen, Alyssa Camp, Katia Savoni, and Emma Pietsch. Watch the video here.
