Geneva's Students Outperform State Average on ACT

Geneva continues to post high scores in the state achievement test.

In a continuation of the success that Geneva High School’s students traditionally display on the ACT, Geneva’s graduating class of 2012 achieved an average ACT composite score of 23.9, according to numbers released this week by ACT.

District 304 has seen a 1.9-point increase in composite score in the last decade—from 22.0 in 2002 to 23.9 in 2012.

While the saw a minimal decline of 0.2 in composite score compared to 2011, the 2012 score remains significantly higher than the state average of 20.9 and the national average of 21.1.

The Geneva School District’s average 2012 scores in individual subject areas also far outpace state averages:

District English Score: 24.2
State English Score: 20.5

District Mathematics Score: 23.8
State Mathematics Score: 21.0

District Reading Score: 23.9
State Reading Score: 20.7

District Science Score: 23.3
State Science Score: 20.8

The ACT is a college-readiness exam given to every Illinois high school student as part of the Prairie State Achievement Exam, regardless of post-high school plans.  The ACT test is graded on a 36-point scale.
