Geneva Parent to Parent Workshop Offers Help in Battle of 'Toxic Culture'

Geneva School District 304 hosts this series to give parents advice and guidance on raising children in the 21st century.

Parents are invited to sign up for an updated version of Parent to Parent 2000/Lessons Learned, the popular series of parenting workshops created by Bill Oliver.  Geneva School District is proud to host this series to give parents advice and guidance on raising children in the 21st century.

The 2012-13 classes, the first of which begins on Oct. 25, each contain four sessions that will provide parents with direction and guidance in their battle against the “Toxic Culture” in which they are forced to raise their children today.

The program is valuable to parents of children of any age and covers such topics as recognizing the signs and symptoms of an unhealthy child, the battle against teen drinking and drug use, the dangers of the Internet, and identifying the common traps parents fall into with children, among others. More than half of the class time will be spent discussing these important issues with other parents and sharing collective experiences.

Parents who have attended this class have said things like, “I found out I’m not alone. Others have the same concerns that I do;” “I wish all parents would take this class so we would have a common language and could network more effectively;” and “The class gave me a different and healthier perspective on how to interact with my kids.”

Class I will be held on Thursdays Oct. 25, Nov. 1, Nov. 8, and Nov. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Class II will be held on Thursdays, Jan. 28, Feb. 4, Feb. 11, and Feb. 25 from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

All sessions will be held in the first floor conference room at the Geneva School District Administrative Offices, 227 N. Fourth Street.  All sessions are free of charge, and all parents from throughout Kane County are invited to participate!

To sign up or for more information, contact Community Intervention Coordinator Chic Williams at (630) 463-3083 or Linda Williams at (630) 463-3084. Leave your name and phone number.
