Swedish Day Subject of Next Brown Bag Program at Geneva History Center

Svenskarnas Dag (Swedish Day)!  This year marks the 100th anniversary of Swedish Day at Good Templar Park! On Tuesday, May 10, at noon the Geneva History Center offers the last-of-the-season Brown Bag program “Celebrating 100 Years of Swedish Day (Svenskarnas Dag) Midsummer Festival.”

Nannette Andersson has a Master’s Degree in Architecture and has recently launched her own design firm, Prairie Grass Design, Inc. She will speak on how Swedish Day came to be at Good Templar Park and will talk about the cottages at the park through the eyes of an architect. Good Templar Park Board Member and aficionado Pat Hanson will show vintage photos of Swedish Day celebrations throughout the years.

The lecture will take place in the Community Room at the Geneva History Center, 113 South Third Street, in the heart of Geneva’s historic downtown area.  Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch.  Cookies and coffee are provided.   Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for Geneva History Center members and students. For more information, call 630-232-4951.
